Fluttering away with The Friday Mashup!

Hi there,

So glad you stopped by!  I have another Butterfly card for you today that I created for the challenge over the challenge blog The Friday Mashup!

If you have been visiting my blog lately you know that I am in LOVE with these Butterfly Framelits, so.......when the Mashup crew decided to focus on Butterflies, I just had to jump on in!  Here is the inspiration picture.

I decided to focus on just the butterfly - I think it's stunning on it's own and it's kind of lacy in a butterfly sort of way  ;)
I wanted to try card similar to one I had seen on Pinterest.  It was by Joni Martin and I just had to try one of my own!  The butterfly wings pop out of your cardstock while the body of the butterfly is still attached.

To do this, place your top cutting plate for your bigshot only half way along the butterfly and stop it at the butterfly's body, run it all the way through the BigShot, then turn you BigShot 'sandwich' around and do it again on the other side! Voila!  A pop-up butterfly!

My cardbase is Blackberry Bliss and the DSP behind the butterfly is from the Painted Petals DSP stack.  I popped my Whisper White layer up on some dimensionals to give the Butterfly even more jump off the card.  My 'Thank you' sentiment if from the Painted Petals Stampset.  I stamped it in Blackberry Bliss and I added it to the cardstock before I cut my butterfly.  Finally, I added a few different sized Rhinestones.  I just LOVE how this turned out!

Happy Stampin'

  1. Hi Tammy, you're right---the butterfly is definitely gorgeous on its own. What a striking card! Love it. Those rhinestones must just be dazzling in real life. Thanks so much for joining the Friday Mashup Challenge this week.
