Anything Goes Blog Hop

Happy October 1st!

Whew, it has been a busy couple of weeks at the Gill house.  Hockey has officially started and this past weekend was a huge festival in our little township.  I participated in a Harvest Market where I sold some of my cards and crafts.  I will share some pictures later this week.

But today, I want to share with you my blog hop project for the Anything Goes theme we have this month for our Blogging Friends Blog Hop!

Fall is under way here in Ontario with beautiful fall leaves starting to appear in the trees and so I wanted to create some fall inspired cards to sell in the Harvest Market.  Here is one of the cards...

This is a fairly simple card, but I just love it!  I started with an Early Espresso Card base, then layered it with a sheet of Woodgrain Texture DSP.
I then punched 3 'yellow daisies' using the Daisy Punch to create a sunflower.  I added an Early Espresso center using the 1" circle punch.  The leaf was cut using the Lemon Builder Punch and Old Olive cardstock.
My greeting is from the Country Home stampset.

This card didn't last long at the market.  I am happy someone else loved it as much as me!

Be sure to hop on trough the stops of our Blog Hop to see all of the projects that are in store for you.

Birthday Card for Monday!

Hello there,

Happy Monday.  I hope you had a good weekend!  We had a family reunion on my husband's side.  They are a very large family - New Foundland is where they are from.  It is always great fun to see everyone.  If you know anyone from New Foundland, you will know that they are fun loving, good hearted and hospitable beyond belief.  Love them!

But, you are here to see the card of the day.  So, I decided to join the fun over at Seize the Birthday with one of my cards from my Embossing Paste class.  We had a ton of fun getting all messy with this paste.  Have you tried it yet?

 Rainbow" Topping
or any kind of Birthday project will do.

I like that they call the theme a topping - a little bit of fun!

Here is my card to share....

I really like how this card turned out.  I little bit of girly fall colour fun with Calypso Coral, Melon Mambo and White cardstock.

I laid my medallion stencil so that it was off center and went off the page into the corner.  I then spread the Embossing Paste using the spatula's.  The trick to this is to fasten your cardstock to the stencil by using washi tape onto the back of the cardstock.  I found that when I did it the first time, my cardstock tore a layer off the cardstock.  It doesn't matter as much on the back.

After the Embossing Paste dried, I took my sponge daubers and layered the colours to create a rainbow effect.  Melon Mambo, then Blushing Bride, then Calypso Coral.

Finally, I stamped my sentiment in Melon Mambo onto Calypso Coral, then finished it off with a bow.

Thank you for stopping by.  Be sure to stop into Seize the Birthday to see what was created with this theme in mind.
